City continue lucrative Cup run with the visit of Div 1 leaders Burnley

The 1920/21 season contained a short but very lucrative FA Cup run for Hull City, including a bumper Home tie against current Div 1 table-topping Burnley. Hype around the City, and interim work on extra capacity at Anlaby Road ensured a 30,000 capacity crowd were there to watch City take on Burnley, who at the time were on a 24-game unbeaten run - the odds of a win seemed impossible. Tommy Brandon scored twice, and Harry Wilson completed a rapturous 3-0 historic victory for the Tigers more info

Menzies leaves City to re-join Bradford City as secretary-manager

After bringing City out of the war years on a steady grounding, Menzies announces he is leaving - to re-join his former club Bradford City as manager. Menzies originally joined City from Bradford as trainer.

Harry Lewis appointed as manager

After leaving a post as manager of Barnsley, Harry a.k.a. Percy Lewis is appointed as manager of Hull City - a position for which reportedly there were hundreds of applicants

Lewis tenders resignation as manager

Under a period of reconstruction - Hull City accept the resignation of manager H P Lewis after achieving just 7 wins in 24 games of the 1922-23 season.

Bill McCracken accepts terms to become manager of Hull City

After accepting his own terms, Bill McCracken becomes manager of Hull City after an interview the previous week - pledging a new era of successful football for the City, McCracken claims that City will not be relegated. He goes on to be the second longest-serving manager in the clubs history to date.

Ebenezer Cobb Morley dies, at his home in Richmond, Surrey. Widely regarded as Footballs Founding Father, read more on the Hull-born mans remarkable life by clicking the link. His grave lies in the now disused Barnes Old Cemetery in Richmond, Surrey more info
