Fans injured as wall collapses at Runcorn FA Cup tie |

14 fans and police are injured as a wall collapses during the FA Cup tie at Runcorn. The wall collapsed immediately after Graeme Atkinson had headed the Tigers into the lead, with many supporters being trapped under the safety barrier which then fell over. Local police chiefs laid the blame on City fans, but in reality the ground was never adequate to hold the expected away attendance. The match was replayed 10 days later at Wincham Park, the home of Witton Albion, where City won 2-0 | more info |

Raich Carter dies at the age of 80 |

At his home in Willerby near Hull, Raich Carter dies at the age of 80. During a playing career with England, Derby County and Sunderland - as well as playing for, and managing Hull City - Raich was recognised as one of the most technical footballing brains ever to grace the game. His funeral 5 days later is attended by 350 fans, as well as currently managing and playing staff of Hull City - remembering a legend in the clubs history. | more info |

City goalkeeper Alan Fettis is named as a substitute in the home tie with Oxford United. When called upon by Terry Dolan to replace Linton Brown with 10 mins left in the match - he plays as a striker, and scores the final goal in a 3-1 victory for City. Fettis pops up again with another goal 5 months later at Blackpool as an outfield player, giving City the 2-1 win | more info |

Following relegation, and the sale of key players to secure the financial position of the club, directors Christopher Needler and Richard Chetham resign from the Board. Thus ends a long relationship between the Needler family and Hull City AFC. Martin Fish becomes the majority shareholder, and began the search for a new Board. | |

After a very lengthy spell of dissatisfaction amongst fans, on the results, and style of play - Terry Dolan is sacked as Hull City manager. His assistant Jeff Lee is also dismissed. At time of writing, Dolan remains the third longest-serving manager at Hull City, behind Bill McCracken and Cliff Britton. Many fans feel he outstayed his welcome by a long stretch. | |

At the League Cup R2 1st Leg fixture against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium, Tigers fans launch a protest against plans by David Lloyd to move City to a new home at The Boulevard - and other plans, by launching tennis balls onto the pitch. The protest delayed the start of the match, and has been used since by other clubs as a method of protest. | more info |

During the infamous Great Escape season, City play Scarborough at Boothferry Park, where kickoff is delayed for 15 minutes due to fans trying to flood into the ground. The gates have to be closed in order for play to begin. The match is drawn 1-1 with an early second half goal from Gary Brabin.
