After one of the clubs worst starts to any league season (P17 W3 D6 L8), Tim Walter is sacked after a 0-2 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday, in front of club owner Acun Ilıcalı. Ilıcalı had stated before the game that Walter would be backed, whatever the outcome - however the level of performance, and the reaction of the fans prompted the owner to dismiss Walter the following day. After Reading agree to release him, Rubén Sellés is announced as the new manager of Hull City.
