Phil Brown sacked as Manager after poor run of results

After months of speculation, Phil Brown is dismissed by Adam Pearson as manager of Hull City and placed on gardening leave. Browns position was rumoured to be in jeopardy since Pearson returned in November 2009 - with a poor string of results and performances ultimately leading to his departure, after one of the most successful tenureships in the clubs history. Iain Dowie takes over as interim manager until the end of the season.

Assem and Ehab Allam completes purchase of Hull City

A statement from the Allams read: Businessmen Assem and Ehab Allam have agreed a Heads of Terms arrangement with Hull City owner Russell Bartlett to take a controlling interest in the Championship club. More details of the agreement will be made public in due course. For the time being, it is important to stress to everyone, especially the supporters of Hull City, that we see our role as bringing financial stability to the club to help clear the outstanding debts and to enable it to survive.

After a successful spell as caretaker-manager after the departure of Nigel Pearson, Nick Barmby is appointed as permanent Manager of his hometown club Hull City by Head of Operations, Adam Pearson. more info

Nick Barmby sacked as manager

After being criticised by the Allams for comments made in the media regarding the clubs finances - Nick Barmby is sacked. Barmby openly criticised the sacking, saying it was entirely without justification. The City legend initially took over as caretaker following the departure of Nigel Pearson, and led the Tigers to 8th place in Tier 2

Steve Bruce appointed as Manager

After a mixed spell as Manager from club legend Nick Barmby ends in his departure, Steve Bruce is appointed by the Allams as new Manager of Hull City on a three-year contract. Bruce returns to the game after a 7-month break after being sacked by Sunderland in November 2011. more info

FA committee votes to stop rebranding to Hull Tigers

The FA membership committee vote unanimously to recommend to the FA council that Assem Allams attempt to rebrand the club as Hull Tigers should not be permitted. Allam responds 22 hours later by stating the club is officially `for sale` more info

FA decision finalised - Allams attempt to rename the club denied

The decision to block the Allams from renaming Hull City AFC is finalised by the FA council - the owners are told they cannot appeal the decision, but can re-apply in 12 months time. This decision is met with huge approval from the large majority of the fanbase.

City reach the FA Cup Final and Europe for the first time

Over 71,000 people watch City beat Sheffield United 5-3 at Wembley Stadium - to send Steve Bruces Hull City to their first FA Cup Final in the 109-year history of the club. In qualifying, City also gain entry to the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round more info

After a poor run of results and 6 months in charge of Hull City, Leonid Slutsky departs. City only won four of the twenty games under Slutsky - leaving them 20th in the league. Vice-Chairman Ehab Allam thanked Slutsky for his efforts, but stated results had not been satisfactory - resulting in a mutual ending

Adkins rejects new contract as manager

Nigel Adkins states he will leave Hull City when his contract ends on 30th June, after talks with the Allams leaves him feeling their futures were not aligned. Adkins led the Tigers to a 13th place finish to his one full season in charge, after replacing Leonid Slutsky in December 2017.

Grant McCann appointed as Head Coach

Following his release from Doncaster Rovers, Grant McCann is appointed as Head Coach. City had been manager-less since 8th June after Nigel Adkins failed to agree a new deal. McCann joins on a 12 month rolling contract after leading Doncaster Rovers to the 3rd Tier play-off Semi-Finals.
